Bistro Garden: New Native Garden

The Bistro Garden is a new residential garden space in Baltimore, MD. The homeowners wished to connect two existing garden beds along the east edge of their property. The formerly unused lawn features a garden of native plants and centers around a bistro table and chairs. Using ecological landscape strategies, including smothering the existing lawn with cardboard, using leaf litter as mulch, and planting native plants based on the site's ecoregion, this new garden space will be an attractive pollinator and wildlife habitat as well as an enjoyable spot to have morning coffee.
